If you have ever pictured what beach yoga on Koh Tao should look like — a wooden platform just off the sand, the sea a few steps away, nothing overhead but blue sky and palm fronds — this is the class you have been waiting for. In April 2026, we opened a brand new Mae Haad beach yoga location, and it is already one of our most loved additions.

This guide walks you through what beach yoga on Koh Tao actually feels like at the new Mae Haad spot, how to get there, and how to book your place on the mat.

A Beach Yoga Location Unlike Anything Else on Koh Tao

We are very lucky on Koh Tao to be surrounded by stunning coastline, but not every beach is suited to yoga. Some are too busy, some are too exposed to wind, some simply do not have the space for a proper class.

Mae Haad Beach changes all of that. The stretch we now practice on is quiet, low-key, and unusually peaceful, even compared to the rest of the island. There is no loud beach bar behind you. No crowds of sunbathers in front of you. Just a quiet corner of Mae Haad where the only soundtrack is the sea.

We built our new class space as a dedicated wooden platform right on the beach. That detail matters more than you might think:

  • Your mat sits flat — no lumps, no sand under your hands in downward dog
  • You get the full beach experience without fighting the surface
  • The platform is gentle on joints and wrists, warmer than tile, softer than concrete

The result is the best of both worlds: a real beach class with proper studio-quality footing.

What Makes This Different from Regular Beach Yoga

Search for “beach yoga Koh Tao” online and you will find a handful of options, but most of them share the same challenges — unstable surfaces, wind problems, noisy neighbors, or classes that are crammed into a lunch-break slot at a resort.

Our new Mae Haad beach yoga class was designed from the ground up to solve those issues:

1. The sea sound is the feature, not the background. The beach we chose has that classic gentle, rolling wave sound — not crashing surf, not boat engines. It is genuinely meditative, and teachers can cue softly without shouting.

2. The platform is purpose-built. You get even footing, a stable surface, and a proper space for your mat, towel, and water.

3. Check-in happens at the main studio first. This keeps the beach location calm, quiet, and free of logistics. You handle the admin where it belongs, then walk down to the beach ready to practice.

4. Small class sizes. Beach yoga loses something when it turns into a group of 40. We keep numbers intentionally low.

What to Expect From a Mae Haad Beach Yoga Class

Beach yoga at the new Mae Haad location is designed to make the most of where we are. Classes are:

  • Outdoors, but shaded and breeze-friendly — you get the air, not the sunburn
  • Flow-based but approachable — we are not trying to break you on the sand
  • Open to all levels — first timers are genuinely welcome
  • Paced to the beach — slower openers, a strong middle section, a long relaxation at the end with the waves as your soundtrack

Whether you are looking for a morning energizer or a late-afternoon wind-down, you will find a session that fits.

How to Get to the Mae Haad Beach Yoga Class

The process is simple and intentional:

  1. Check in at the main studio — Koh Tao Yoga, 50 meters from the pier. Our team will confirm your booking and give you directions.
  2. Walk down to the beach location — it is close by and easy to find once you know where to go.
  3. Step onto the wooden platform and begin.

We keep the beach location slightly off the main tourist drag on purpose. Checking in at the studio first means you arrive at the beach relaxed, with no confusion about where to go — and the class itself stays peaceful and uncrowded.

Who Beach Yoga on Koh Tao Is For

Mae Haad beach yoga is a great fit for:

  • Travelers who want the “iconic Koh Tao experience” — yoga on the sand with the sea in front of you
  • Couples and honeymooners looking for a romantic, unforgettable activity
  • Divers on surface intervals who want to stretch out a tight body between dives
  • Yogis who usually practice indoors and want to feel what outdoor practice does to the nervous system
  • Complete beginners who feel more comfortable outside than in a mirrored studio

Beach yoga is also one of the most forgiving ways to try yoga for the first time. The setting is so beautiful that even when a pose is new or awkward, it is almost impossible not to enjoy the class.

What to Bring

We keep it simple:

  • Comfortable clothes you can move in
  • A water bottle
  • Sunscreen (reef-safe, please — this is Koh Tao)
  • A small towel if you like

Mats, blocks, straps, and bolsters are all provided. No need to haul equipment down to the sand.

Beach Yoga + The Rest of Your Koh Tao Wellness Day

A Mae Haad beach yoga class is the perfect anchor for a wellness-focused day on Koh Tao. You could easily stack it with:

  • An ice bath back at the main studio
  • A sound healing or breathwork session in the afternoon
  • A light, healthy lunch at one of Mae Haad’s beachfront cafes
  • A sunset rooftop yoga class to close the day

Many of our guests book a beach class on one day of their trip and a rooftop sunset class on another — two very different sides of the same island.

Book Your Mae Haad Beach Yoga Class

Beach yoga spaces are intentionally limited, and since opening in April 2026, classes at the new Mae Haad platform have been filling up quickly — especially in the cooler morning and golden-hour slots.

If practicing on a quiet wooden platform, a few steps from the sea, on one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Tao sounds like your kind of morning, we would love to have you on the mat.

Reserve your spot now at kohtaoyoga.com — check in at the main studio, walk down to the beach, and let Mae Haad do the rest.
