Why this workshop matters

This is not just a skills class. All proceeds contribute to a fundraising project for a new ambulance for Mae Tuen Hospital in the Omkoi District of Chiang Mai.

For many rural communities in northern Thailand, a working ambulance is the difference between getting critical care in time and not. Your afternoon on the mat becomes a direct contribution to that mission.

What you will learn

Across the two-hour workshop you will be guided through practical, hands-on techniques — including traditional herbal heat and fire application — with a clear focus on safety:

  1. Step-by-step abdominal massage techniques — learn a clear sequence you can practice with care
  2. Traditional herbal heat and fire application — an introduction to classic Thai herbal methods used alongside massage
  3. Safe pressure, rhythm, and movement principles — how to work with the body without forcing
  4. Safety guidelines and client assessment essentials — what to check before you begin, and how to keep practice safe

No prior massage experience is needed. The session is designed so beginners can follow along, and more experienced hands can refine their approach.

Location: Wat Koh Tao

The workshop takes place at Wat Koh Tao (the temple). It is a calm, respectful setting — please dress modestly and comfortably, as recommended for the venue and for practicing on the floor.

If you are staying near Mae Haad or Sairee, the temple is easy to reach by scooter or songthaew. Give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive, find the space, and settle in before 2:00 PM.

A meaningful afternoon on Koh Tao

Whether you live on the island or are visiting for a few days, this workshop is a rare mix: learn a real skill, practice in a peaceful temple setting, and support an ambulance for Mae Tuen Hospital — all for THB 300.
